Abstract
This report is a literature review covering published and web based literature on Reactive Powder Concrete (RPC). The report attempts to give an overview of RPC development and design. It compares a wide range of literature available on the topic and examines some of the differing opinions on why RPC obtains some of its remarkable properties.Several forms of established concrete technologies are examined and some of their structural properties are compared to those of RPC. Differing RPC mix designs are also examined and the effect of selected additives including fine steel fibres are explained.The report explains the construction of the first RPC structure, a footbridge in Canada. Parts of the innovative design used for this bridge are examined and some of the future possibilities of uses for the material are put forward. Drawbacks associated with the material including cost and design barriers are also explored and conclusions about the future of the material are drawn.
