Les chroniques urbaines du XVIIe siècle sont pleines d´événements dramatiques qui reflètent une violence structurelle. Pour la ville de Grenade les Anales de Henríquez de Jorquera montrent de nombreux cas de violence. Sa description de faits de violence n'est pas exhaustive. Cet auteur préfère choisir ceux qui ont des caractéristiques frappantes. Mais il garde aussi le silence par rapport à certains délits. Certains cas présentent des protagonistes remarquables et d'autres des actes d'une grande cruauté. Il met également en lumière les cas dans lesquels une femme a été victime ou auteur d'actes de violence, surtout dans les meurtres. Son récit concis est accompagné d'observations personnelles. Quelques cas de procès d'Inquisition avec présence de femmes sont aussi inclus dans cette étude.
