Abstract
Cette etude est une analyse historique et canonique du role des diacres catholiques ukrainiens, dans le droit commun des Eglises orientales catholiques et dans les lois particulieres de l'Eglise catholique ukrainienne, surtout au Canada. Contrairement a la loi de l'Eglise latine pre-Vatican II, les lois des Eglises orientales catholiques n'interdisaient pas l'ordination des diacres permanents. Neanmoins, il n'y eut de diacres permanents dans l'Eglise catholique ukrainienne au Canada qu'apres le Concile, en grande partie parce que les fideles avaient ete confies au soin pastoral des eveques latins ou a des pretres formes dans les seminaires latins sans experience du diaconat permanent. En 1967, les eveques de l'Eglise ukrainienne catholique au Canada ont decrete l'introduction du diaconat permanent et, en 1968, ont etabli des normes pour leur formation. Ces normes sont toujours en vigueur, bien que devant etre mises a jour.
