Field experiments were established in 2004 at two soil types of the Emile A. Lods Agronomy Research Centre in SainteAnne-de-Bellevue, QC, Canada [Soil types were a fine sandy loam at one site (site A) & a Macdonald clay loam at the other (site B)] to determine the effect of foliar application of yeast extract on the isoflavones content of soybean seeds. Yeast extracts were applied at two stages of development [early podding (R3) & mid podding (R4)]. A non-treated control was also included. Total and individual isoflavone concentrations were determined by high-performance liquid chromatography. Results indicated that total isoflavone concentration did not differ significantly due to site effects. On the other hand, the greatest individul and total isoflavone concentrations were observed following the foliar application of yeast extract 2 mg mL at R4 stage. © 2011 Eriends Science Publishers
