Abstract
Este artículo examina la historia de la determinación de derechos compensatorios con respecto de la madera blanda entre 1982 y 2005. El artículo está dividido en dos áreas principales de análisis. Primero, el artículo narra y revisa fijadas determinaciones claves hechas a través de la historia de los procedimientos sobre derechos compensatorios de madera blanda. Examina, en particular, determinados temas recurrentes así como asuntos que echan luces sobre algunas cuestiones jurisprudenciales interesantes que surgen del caso en estudio. Segundo, habiendo completado la revisión, la nota cambia para destilar algunas lecciones de la experiencia obtenida. Estas lecciones enfocan la luz vertida por la larga historia de la disputa sobre madera blanda sobre la naturaleza de la disciplina de los subsidios en el comercio internacional. Asimismo, se enfoca en lo que la disputa sobre madera blanda revela acerca de la relación entre diferentes actores jurídicos en un nivel internacional. El artículo cierra con algunas reflexiones sobre los límites de las herramientas resolutivas en una disputa internacional en casos altamente polémicos y politizados.
