Abstract
La recherche repose sur l'hypothèse que les pays opposés au recours à la multifonctionnalité comme justification de l'intervention publique dans les négociations internationales doivent gérer, eux aussi, des tensions liées à l'évolution structurelle de leur agriculture. Ils doivent simultanément prendre en compte l'ensemble de ses rôles et fonctions dans l'économie mais aussi dans la société, afin d'éviter la dégradation de leur situation sociale et environnementale. L'objectif du projet est d'examiner l'existence et les modalités de la gestion de ces tensions internes, sa traduction dans les politiques publiques ou d'autres modes d'intervention et ses conséquences sur l'agriculture. Cette hypothèse est testée dans quatre pays de groupe de Cairns et de I'ALENA (Afrique du Sud, Canada, Mexique, Thaïlande).
