Abstract
This article describes the challenges faced in the construction of the LeJeune Flyover, which was built to ease traffic flow from Miami International Airport to Hialeah, Florida. During construction of the flyover, the bridge began to crack from construction loads, prompting officials to worry that the problem would only worsen after the flyover opened to traffic. An innovative, turn-key repair and strengthening solution was chosen for the pier caps and columns to ensure a long service life for the flyover while minimizing construction delays. Post-tensioning tendons that were fully encapsulated and encased in concrete were selected for the repair and strengthening solution.
