Abstract
Issu d'une thèse d'habilitation soutenue en 1996 à Eichstätt, cet ouvrage présente la construction de l'image de l'Espagne durant la guerre de Trente Ans.Face aux études existantes (Franz Bosbach, Johannes Arndt), l'auteur insiste sur l'importance de l'Empire colonial espagnol et sur le problème de la légitimation de la guerre dans les représentations.Pour étudier leurs transmissions et leurs effets, il sélectionne un corpus constitué de 270 feuilles volantes, de gravures et chansons, de la correspondance, et, par sondages, des correspondances diplomatiques. 2Cet ouvrage se distingue par ses qualités pédagogiques.L'auteur synthétise par exemple nos connaissances sur l'engagement continuel de l'Espagne dans la guerre de Trente ans et sur les structures de la communication (parties A et B) et, de façon générale, il s'efforce de tenir compte des acquis des sciences de la communication tout en déployant une approche historique.Il développe ensuite ses conclusions, ordonnées selon le type de source mobilisée.
