Abstract
La mémoire collective des Québécois demeurera à jamais marquée par la crise du verglas de janvier 1998. A aucun moment de son histoire, le Québec n'a été frappé en plein hiver par une telle catastrophe à la fois naturelle et technologique. L'étendue du territoire affecté, le nombre imposant de personnes sinistrées, la relocalisation temporaire massive de milliers d'individus dans des centres de dépannage, la durée prolongée de l'interruption du service d'électricité, la dévastation et les dommages aux infrastructures, aux boisés, aux propriétés personnelles en sont des composantes manifestes. La paralysie de nombre d'activités quotidiennes, tant économiques que sociales, pour une multitude de communautés représente également un élément additionnel de stress qui caractérise ce désastre.
