Abstract
Diagnosis and surgical management of an intestinal, mango kernel foreign body in a dog. History and Clinical Signs An adult 3 year old yellow female Labrador weighing 27kg was presented with history of profuse vomiting and absence of stools for the past 4 days. The dog was receiving symptomatic therapy and failed to respond to this. On physical examination, the eyes were sunken and skin was tenting suggesting significant dehydration. The temperature, pulse and respiration were within normal physiological parameters and on abdominal palpation a distinct smooth globoid mass was palpable within the intestinal loops. Complete blood counts revealed 22 x 109/L, mild leucocytosis (22,000 cells/mm 3 ) and biochemistry revealed mild hypoproteinemia (4.9g/dL) with mild hypoabluminemia (2.3g/dL).
