Abstract
Considérant le travail comme la production première de l’homme, nous avons élaboré un modèle partiel à équations simultanées dans lequel le bien-être (éducation, santé et nutrition) contribue à la croissance de la production en améliorant la qualité de l’effort de travail fourni par la main-d’oeuvre. Le calibrage du modèle à l’aide de données observées de plusieurs pays en développement tend à confirmer l’hypothèse d’une contribution directe de certaines variables de bien-être à la croissance de la production. La pseudo-opposition si souvent véhiculée dans la littérature sur le sous-développement entre investissements directement productifs et satisfaction immédiate des besoins apparaît alors plus comme une contrainte imposée a priori lors de la construction des modèles traditionnels que comme le résultat d’observations.
