Abstract
Dans les sociétés occidentales, le théâtre et la théorie sont apparentés : ils se référent tous deux à l’acte de voir et de faire voir. En s’appuyant sur l’ouvrage Theatricality as Medium de Samuel Weber, qui définit la théâtralité comme capacité de faire d’un lieu, de n’importe quel lieu, une scène sur laquelle une chose – un événement, une situation, une action, une idée, etc. – prend place, s’expose et se donne à voir en passant, cet article traite de la théâtralité en tant que mode de connaissance dans lequel fiction et vérité partagent une même visée : voir et faire voir un sens – réel et/ou imaginaire – à l’agir individuel et au devenir collectif de l’Homme. Cette filiation entre fiction et vérité, qui est exposée de manière emblématique dans la Phénoménologie de l’esprit de Hegel, montre que la théâtralité, lorsqu’elle est mise au service d’une entreprise de connaissance, a pour fondement le concept de jeu.
