La Minienquete sur le francais au Quebec poursuivait trois objectifs : comprendre les representations sur la langue francaise de jeunes Quebecois âges de 15 a 17 ans, decrire leurs pratiques culturelles et observer l’infl uence du milieu socioculturel et de la langue parlee a la maison sur ces deux aspects. De cette recherche mettant a contribution des donnees issues des reponses de 349 eleves a un questionnaire anonyme, et des propos de 23 jeunes en groupes de discussion, il ressort que les eleves utilisent le francais dans certaines activites de detente; ont des opinions mitigees quant a l’usage du francais dans leur milieu et entretiennent une vision plutot pessimiste de l’avenir de cette langue qu’ils disent vouloir utiliser dans leur vie future, qu’ils imaginent caracterisee par la mobilite et le bilinguisme.
