Abstract
La presente etude comparative porte sur le role que jouent les antecedents familiaux dans l'acces aux etudes postsecondaires au Canada et aux Etats Unis. Etant donne que les etudes postsecondaires sont financees d'une facon tres differente dans l'un et l'autre pays, les antecedents familiaux peuvent jouer des roles foncierement differents. Les resultats donnent a penser que la poursuite d'etudes universitaires est moins courante chez les etudiants a faible revenu et les membres de minorites visibles aux Etats Unis que chez leurs homologues au Canada. Plusieurs raisons possibles sont examinees.
