Abstract

Cet article propose une analyse ethnologique des appropriations françaises du hip-hop. Il s’attelle dans une première partie à repérer les mécanismes du « branchement » initial entre une forme symbolique médiatique et un « contexte » spécifique, afin d’analyser les logiques de la re-production contemporaine du local. Ayant souligné l’importance des réseaux de l’État culturel dans la cristallisation de la version française de ce mouvement, il analyse dans une seconde partie les transformations ultérieures de la danse hip-hop dans son passage de la « rue » à la scène, stimulé par une politique dite « d’intégration par la culture ». La fabrique de l’universalité artistique dans les espaces culturels légitimes induisit de nouvelles normes esthétiques dont nous analysons les implications sociales. Dans un double mouvement de relocalisation puis d’universalisation, nous analysons comment ce mouvement a progressivement été intégré au patrimoine culturel français.
