La connaissance du monde de vie des familles et sa prise en compte par le monde de l'école constituent un enjeu majeur d'autant plus important que l'école, à la Réunion, connaît des transformations brutales au sein d'une société elle-même en pleine mutation. Ce département français d'outre-mer se caractérise par un télescopage entre un modèle issu de la tradition créole et un modèle exogène importé de sa métropole. C'est dans un tel contexte que s'élaborent des perceptions scolaires, étudiées ici sur deux dimensions. La première rend compte des cadres de référence parentaux organisés autour de l'expérience de l'école traditionnelle et du catéchisme. La seconde met en exergue les deux univers de l'école et du kartié, au sein desquels s'opposent des modalités contrastées de communication et se confrontent des légitimités distinctes de la représentation parentale.
