Abstract
L’article analyse une thématique antimilitariste s’exprimant dans le courant syndicaliste-révolutionnaire du mouvement ouvrier français, dans la revue La guerre sociale, du début du 20e siècle à 1914. Le patriotisme y est présenté comme une « religion nouvelle » fabriquée – comme les religions révélées par les tyrans de jadis – par la classe capitaliste pour asservir le peuple, une « nouvelle idole » qui réclame à son tour des sacrifices sanglants. La conclusion revient sur la débandade de ce puissant courant militant en juillet-aout 1914.
