Abstract
Le présent article se veut une synthèse du dernier rapport d’une série de quatre traitant des mouvements migratoires d’une cohorte de jeunes anglophones. En 1976 fut constitué un échantillon de 975 étudiants, représentatif de tous ceux qui ont quitté, en 1971, les 84 écoles secondaires anglaises du Québec suite à l’obtention d’un diplôme ou à un abandon. Interrogés une première fois en 1976, les étudiants furent contactés de nouveau en 1979 et en 1982-1983. Les résultats de cette dernière relance sont présentés ici. Révélatrice de l’expérience migratoire d’une cohorte seulement, cette recherche présente néanmoins un apport considérable, fournissant les seules données longitudinales actuellement disponibles pour l’étude du comportement migratoire des jeunes anglophones. Ainsi, pendant les onze ans qui ont suivi leur départ de l’école secondaire, 5O% des étudiants de l’échantillon ont émigré de même que l’ont fait un cinquième de leurs parents.
