Abstract
En Afrique, les enfants représentent la part plus importante des patients des hôpitaux. Pourtant très peu d’études ont été consacrées aux interactions entre les soignants et ces jeunes malades. Mêlant des perspectives d’anthropologie de la santé et d’anthropologie de l’enfance, notre enquête, réalisée dans un service de pédiatrie d’Afrique de l’Ouest, souligne la complexité de l’accès aux soins de ces jeunes patients et décrit un ensemble de dysfonctionnements dans la prise en charge des malades. Trois dimensions – la routine des pratiques, une mise en oeuvre d’éthiques sélectives et le statut de l’enfant – sont étudiées pour rendre compte des pratiques des professionnels de santé et des interactions observées.
