Abstract
Este artigo tem um caracter exploratorio, enquadrando-se no paradigma emergente da intersubjectividade e no modelo de intervencao empowerment sobejamente praticado e reflectido pelo Social nos paises de tradicao anglo-saxonica. Atendendo a coerencia interna do documento, este alicerca-se numa primeira abordagem generica sobre o paradigma e modelo enquadradores e subsequente conteudo funcional da profissao do Social Hospitalar: A nivel da coerencia externa do documento devera realcar-se a multiplicidade de documentos consultados- a sublinhar a pertinencia, como base de trabalho, do documento Servico Social da Saude (Departamento de Recursos Humanos da Saude, Ministerio da Saide, 1998). Em Portugal, os assistentes sociais hospitalares intervem ha cerca de meio seculo... por vezes fazendo-se ouvir, muitas vezes estando em silencio. Mas e um silencio que tem vindo a influenciar vivencias singulares dos cidadaos e o modo de cuidar em saude. Seguem-se algumas palavras que poderao ajudar a construir este... som do silencio.
