Abstract
Ce texte soutient la thèse de l'existence d'une bourgeoisie compradore au Canada, qui se trouve en situa.tion d'"alliance conflictuelle" avec la classe capitaliste intérieure. La bourgeoisie compradore est composée des administrateurs internes des filiales étrangères au Canada. Elle se fait conseiller par le même groupe d'" intellectuels organiques" (avocats, consultants financiers, ingénieurs-conseils) que la bourgeoisie canadienne : il n'y a pas une intelligentzia spécifique liée aux sociétés étrangères au Canada. L'article étudie aussi le contrôle initial et final des principales filiales étrangères, et il conclut que, alors que la grande majorité des filiales est sous un contrôle majoritaire ou absolu de la société mère, celles-ci se trouvent sous un contrôle familial ou interne. L'étude est faite sur la base d'une liste de 130 filiales étrangères dont les actifs en 1975 étaient supérieurs à $100 millions. Ces sociétés représentent plus de 50% des capitaux étrangers au Canada pour l'année - base 1975.
