Abstract
This chapter summarizes some of important characteristics of enzymes. Two approaches to treat initial rate enzyme kinetics, quasi-equilibrium and steady-state, are discussed. General procedures for deriving rate equations by the two approaches are given. Cleland's nomenclature is presented. The analysis of enzyme kinetic data is performed with a software program, Leonora. Enzyme databases, both general and individual group, are listed. Computer search for enzyme kinetic, structural and mechanistic information via the Internet resources is described.
