Abstract
La crise de l'État providence a donné naissance à un nouveau modèle de gestion sociale dans lequel la communauté est appelée à jouer un rôle important. L'article analyse les significations contemporaines de la communauté dans les politiques sociales et dans les mouvements sociaux en les reliant aux stratégies mondiales, nationales et locales et aux stratégies existentielles et instrumentales. La communauté comme solution au problème de l'exclusion se distingue de la communauté comme forme de lien social. Mais cette dernière option ne garantit pas une intégration à la société globale; elle ouvre seulement la porte d'un secteur communautaire qui est lui-même marginalisé.
