Critique d’un schéma d’analyse de sociologie électorale

Abstract
L'objectif des auteurs est de souligner l'existence de certains écueils dans toute tentative d'interprétation globale d'un " événement " électoral. L'occasion de cet article est fournie par la publication d'une étude de la dernière élection générale au Québec, étude se fondant sur une: description " mécanique " du processus électoral. Les auteurs font ressortir les imprécisions conceptuelles et les problèmes méthodologiques de cette étude. L'approche dimensionnelle du phénomène électoral apparaît alors comme une démarche réductionniste. Les auteurs suggèrent que l'interprétation ne peut être satisfaisante si l'on ne cherche pas à préciser la signification des enjeux électoraux dans un contexte social débordant le processus électoral, si on ne tient pas compte de la perception de cette " signification " par l'électeur, et si on ne formule pas un modèle causal liant les diverses dimensions du rituel électoral.
