Abstract
Lorsqu’ils se rencontrent en 1958, Gaston Miron et Henri Pichette pressentent peut-être que leur amitié sera celle d’une vie. Ils ne peuvent cependant deviner les difficultés qu’ils affronteront en cherchant à diffuser leurs travaux respectifs de part et d’autre de l’océan. Quelles représentations idéologiques et politiques cette amitié traverse-t-elle ? Quel a été son rôle dans l’évolution poétique de Miron et de Pichette ? La correspondance inédite de ces derniers nous donne un accès privilégié aux prémisses des années de militantisme du poète québécois. Plus largement, elle dresse un premier portrait de l’amitié franco-québécoise de deux des plus grands poètes du vingtième siècle.
