Abstract
Résumé La responsabilité sociale d’entreprise, souvent présentée comme la voie royale de réconciliation des intérêts privés et de l’intérêt commun, semble être devenue la panacée à nos problèmes de mondialisation et pourrait même venir combler le vide régulatoire ouvert par le démantèlement du fordisme et par la mondialisation économique. Nous explorons ici cet impact régulatoire annoncé pour voir si la responsabilité sociale peut être porteuse d’un tel espoir de réconciliation et constituer dès lors une avenue de régulation de l’entreprise mondialisée. Afin de mieux comprendre les lieux de rapprochements et de ruptures entre différents acteurs tels que les entreprises et le patronat, les syndicats ainsi que les organisations non gouvernementales (ONG), nous avons analysé leurs discours respectifs à partir de mémoires déposés dans le cadre de la Commission sur la démocratie canadienne et la responsabilisation des entreprises. De profondes divergences persistent quant au rôle de l’entreprise. Nos résultats indiquent cependant qu’un compromis s’établit sur la reddition de comptes, ce qui laisse non résolue la question de la définition de la RSE.
