Abstract
L'objectif de ce texte est de rappeler comment, au plan analytique, s'articulent les notions de santé mentale et de processus sociaux. L'auteur rappelle d'abord comment la façon même de définir la santé mentale et les modes d'interventions dans ce secteur se fonde inévitablement sur une conception de la société en elle-même et de la relation individu-société. Il passe ensuite en revue un certain nombre de dimensions de la vie sociale (les processus organisationnels, les systèmes d'appartenance comme la classe sociale, le sexe, la religion, le milieu rural-urbain, etc.) qui marquent ou déterminent la relation entre santé mentale et processus sociaux. Les divers textes présentés dans ce numéro servent alors d'exemples au cadre général présenté ici. L'auteur termine en situant chacun de ces textes par rapport au champ de recherche en sociologie de la santé mentale.
