II existe un lambeau de la ligne de rivage Micmac à la pointe aux Alouettes, près de l'embouchure du Saguenay. À cet endroit, on observe une basse terrasse, à 6 m d'altitude, au pied d'une falaise morte. Il s'agit de la falaise Micmac de Goldthwait et de la terrasse Mitis de Dionne. La basse terrasse constitue une forme polygénique qui a été édifiée en deux phases. Dans un premier temps, les agents d'érosion littoraux ont taillé une plate-forme et une falaise dans la terrasse limono-argileuse locale. Dans un deuxième temps, des dépôts intertidaux fins et des dépôts grossiers littoraux ont été accumulés sur cette surface fossilisant alors la falaise et la plate-forme d'érosion. Après l'emersion de la terrasse, survenue il y a un millénaire environ, des cônes de déjection (coulées boueuses) ont été édifiés à la sortie des ravins entaillant la falaise morte. Par endroits, à distance du pied de la falaise, des nappes de colluvions de ruissellement recouvrent la surface originelle. L'âge médian des sédiments intertidaux est de 1,4 ka, celui des plages, en surface, de 1,3 ka. À la pointe aux Alouettes, la terrasse Mitis est environ 600 ans plus jeune qu'ailleurs sur les rives du Saint-Laurent estuarien. Malgré un taux moyen d'émersion des terres de 5,7 mm/an, l'érosion a grugé la terrasse à un rythme d'environ 100 cm/an au cours des trois dernières décennies.
