Abstract
L'historien canadien se propose de suivre par un questionnement simple la trajectoire historique d'une ide : comment en est-on arriv tenir pour acquise l'ide que l'Afrique tait une aire exclusivement htrosexuelle ? Son hypothse est que what appears () as timeless African tradition today, (), is often historically quite recent and contested. Same-sex sexuality and attitudes toward it thus clearly have a history in Africa, just as they do elsewhere in the world (p. 10).
