Abstract
In 1939, more than 15 years after the birth of radio in Quebec and Canada, no regular column about radio existed in the print media, nor was there any publication dedicated to radio. Marcel Provost therefore decided to create a specialized weekly, Radiomonde. This publication, mainly dedicated to the activities of radio, had an undeniable influence on Quebec culture. This article analyses the first 12 years of this weekly, from 1939 to 1951, when the magazine underwent a change of ownership, publisher, and objectives. This publication, which has not yet been the subject of serious study, corresponded to a modern notion of the print media in terms of format, themes, and editorial objectives, although it remained traditional in many aspects of its content.
