La notion de « front écologique » est traitée, dans ces paragraphes, comme une notion exploratoire. L’article tente d’appliquer la notion à un espace éloigné et inscrit dans une temporalité et spatialité totalement différente de celle à partir de laquelle il a été conceptualisé. L’objectif consiste à tenter de sortir la notion du territoire géographique et du contexte dans lequel elle a été pensée afin de montrer son aspect opératoire et applicable à d’autres espaces, dans une perspective démonstrative. Le front écologique albertain est un espace de confrontation horizontal, présentant des logiques écologiques contradictoires (extraction, protection) et vertical, où s’agencent des logiques de domination et de régulation relatives aux questions foncières ou aux questions d’usages impliquant notamment les Autochtones. Le cas albertain fait émerger, à travers la complexité de ce processus écologique, les composantes d’un cycle adaptatif qui n’est pas sans faire écho à la notion de « panarchie ».
