Abstract
L’étude de l’oeuvre de Martin Schoeller, exclusivement photographique, se révèle particulièrement intéressante dans la perspective de l’exploration de l’ambivalence au coeur du modèle de virilité que donne à voir l’artiste. Dans son article, l’auteure propose une analyse esthétique de cette oeuvre, tout en utilisant le prisme d’une lecture genrée afin de confronter cette ambivalence aux questions de rapports sociaux de sexes qu’elle implique. L’auteure se fonde sur une approche transdisciplinaire centrée sur l’époque contemporaine. Après avoir abordé, dans une perspective esthétique, la question de la représentation du corps extrême, l’auteure parcourt, de ruptures en corrélations, les enjeux engagés par la performance de virilité.
