Avantages et défis d’une communauté d’apprentissage pour dynamiser l’enseignement des sciences et de la technologie à l’élémentaire

Abstract
Cet article présente les résultats d’une recherche portant sur une communauté d’apprentissage (CA) qui a permis à huit enseignantes franco-ontariennes de 5 e et de 6 e année de s’engager dans une démarche d’amélioration de l’enseignement des sciences et de la technologie (S-T). L’analyse effectuée vise à mieux comprendre, à partir des témoignages des enseignantes, les avantages et les défis de la CA pour dynamiser l’enseignement des S-T. S’appuyant sur le cadre des trois dimensions de la communauté d’apprentissage de Schussler (2003), l’analyse de contenu (L’Écuyer, 1987) révèle que, selon la dimension cognitive, les enseignants disent apprendre des notions de sciences et de nouvelles approches pédagogiques. Sur le plan affectif, la communauté d’apprentissage leur apporte la motivation pour enseigner les S-T. Selon la dimension idéologique, la CA procure des bénéfices aux enseignantes au niveau de l’autonomie professionnelle. Finalement, certains défis de la CA, notamment l’importance de mieux répondre aux besoins cognitifs des enseignants en stimulant davantage leur zone d’apprentissage, sont discutés.
