L’altermondialisme et la revalorisation de la politique extra-parlementaire

Abstract
Cet article a pour but d’éclairer sous un nouveau jour le contexte sociopolitique dans lequel se mènent les luttes altermondialistes en attirant l’attention sur deux hypothèses théoriques de la sociologie historique critique. En particulier, il soutient que la sociologie concernée par l’agence transformatrice de l’altermondialisme gagnerait à théoriser davantage la spécificité du capitalisme — une séparation inédite entre l’« économie » et le « politique » — pour dépasser l’analyse conjoncturelle du néolibéralisme et de la démocratie libérale afin de mieux évaluer les processus par lesquels les altermondialistes tentent de changer le monde sans prendre le pouvoir. L’article souligne finalement les hésitations de l’altermondialisme à repolitiser la question de la nature du travail et des relations sociales de propriété, mais conclut néanmoins que l’altermondialisme a le grand mérite de revaloriser une culture politique cosmopolite et extra-parlementaire dépréciée par la démocratie libérale.
