Abstract
E rövid írásban a Nemzetközi Kritikai Földrajzi Csoport fejl ődését és eddigi tevékenységét vázolom fel.A Nemzetközi Kritikai Földrajzi Csoport (ICGG) olyan geográfusok és más kutatók hálózata, akik elkötelezték magukat a kritikai és radikális földrajz fejl ődése mellett az akadémián belül és azon kívül.A kritikai földrajzosok a kutatáson, a tudományos munkán, a tanításon és más tevékenységeken keresztül olyan tudást és értelmezést szeretnének kialakítani, amely hozzájárulhat a kizsákmányolás és az elnyomás elleni harchoz, és el ősegíti a társadalmi változást.Az ICGG közvetlen gyökerei egy 1997 augusztusában Vancouverben tartott konferenciához nyúlnak vissza.A kritikai földrajznak ezt az alakuló konferenciáját a University of British Columbia és a Simon Fraser University geográfusai rendezték.Jelentős támogatást kaptak egy ausztrál, európai, indiai, japán és dél-afrikai kutatókból álló informális csoporttól.A vancouveri konferencia csúcspontja a jöv ő megvitatására szánt ülés volt.A konferencia résztvev ői közül önkéntesek vállalták, hogy kialakítanak egy kritikai földrajzosokból álló nemzetközi hálózatot, és megtervezik a további tevékenységeket.Tizenkét ország, öt kontinens képvisel őiből megalakult egy irányító bizottság, melynek tagjai id őszakonként változnak, és amely számos új taggal b ővült megalakulása óta.1999-ben az irányító bizottság megfogalmazta a csoport "Szándéknyilatkozatát".Ennek közzétételére az
