Abstract
La transformation de l’identité québécoise depuis un demi-siècle doit moins s’envisager comme une métamorphose de la définition que la société québécoise se ferait d’elle-même qu’à la manière d’un conflit idéologique centré sur la définition même de cette identité et par là, du modèle de société qu’on proposait au Québec. Cette lutte idéologique a été menée principalement par la philosophie progressiste telle qu’elle s’est successivement incarnée à travers le personnalisme, le socialisme marxisant et le multiculturalisme. Toutefois, malgré une critique progressiste de plus en plus radicale et surtout, soutenue par un dispositif institutionnel de plus en plus puissant et coercitif, l’identité nationale du Québec historique est parvenue à se ressaisir politiquement et idéologiquement et à se dérober aux différentes entreprises de reconstruction idéologique auxquelles elle a été soumise. Cet article retrace les termes de cette lutte idéologique autour de la question de l’identité québécoise, depuis la Révolution tranquille jusqu’à la crise des accommodements raisonnables.
