El poema corto de Lorna Goodison “I Come from a Land”, publicado en el 2006, contiene muchas de las temáticas y elementos estilísticos que sehan vuelto característicos de su poesía a lo largo de los últimos treinta años. Una discusión de este poema, entonces, sirve como introducción informal alextraordinario conjunto de la obra de Goodison y como una oportunidad para reflexionar sobre el modo en que esa obra ha explorado asuntos de exilioy regreso al hogar, pérdida y recuperación, agotamiento y revelación.
