Abstract
Trata-se de um relato de experiência referente ao Programa de Visita financiado pelo Faculty Enrichment Program a instituições de reabilitação e de saúde, realizado no mês de agosto de 2006. A Bolsa de Estudos do International Council of Canadian Studies (ICCS), oferecida pela Embaixada do Canadá, oportunizou o conhecimento do sistema de prestação de cuidados sociais e de saúde e o desenvolvimento de pesquisas direcionadas às crianças com necessidades especiais de saúde. Os resultados no campo dos cuidados de reabilitação e saúde, assim como da pesquisa, mostraram uma preocupação constante em compreender as reais demandas dessas crianças e de seus familiares e desenvolver ferramentas, em sistema de parceria entre os profissionais de saúde e esses usuários do serviço, objetivando a melhoria da qualidade da assistência.Résumé: Cet article rapporte les expériences vécues lors d’un programme de visites au Canada financé par le Programme d’enrichissement facultaire réalisé en août 2006. Une bourse du Conseil International d’Études Canadiennes (ICCS), offerte par l’Ambassade du Canada au Brésil, a permis de connaître le système de prestation de soins sociaux et de santé, ainsi que le développement de recherches, auprès d’enfants ayant des besoins spéciaux de santé (enfants handicapés selon la terminologie canadienne). Les résultats de cette visite montrent qu’on retrouve au Canada un souci constant de répondre aux besoins réels des enfants et de leur famille, et de développer des ressources, en partenariat entre les professionnels de la santé et les usagers des services, avec un objectif d’amélioration continuelle des services.Mots-clés: enfant; soins de santé; personnes avec des nécessités spéciales.Abstract: This experience report describes the visit program developed at the Canadian rehabilitation and healthcare facilities, held in August 2006. It was funded by the Faculty Enrichment Program through the Scholarship of the International Council of Canadian Studies (ICCS) offered by the Canadian Embassy in Brazil. The Visit Program provided an opportunity to know the social and healthcare services available and addressed to children with special needs and their families. The result from rehabilitation care and health intervention, as well as the research team showed a constant concern to understand the real needs of these children and their families. The healthcare professionais are developing tools, strategies and partnership aiming to improve a continuous better quality of assistance.Keywords: children; healthcare; people with special needs.
