En 2006, la version finale du rapport Starting Strong a été publiée par l’OCDE. Depuis, des développements importants se sont produits dans différents pays. Cet article présente quatre grands thèmes auxquels se consacrent plus précisément les gouvernements à l’heure actuelle : la tendance croissante à intégrer les services d’aide à l’enfance et d’éducation, le plus souvent sous les auspices du ministère de l’éducation ; l’accent tout particulièrement mis sur les services destinés aux enfants âgés de 0 à 3 ans ; l’attention accrue aux enfants à risque ; l’intérêt porté aux qualifications et aux conditions de travail des personnels de l’éducation préscolaire.
