Abstract
A visão sobre o parto e a maneira como é vivenciado são singulares. Dessa forma, cada mulher deve receber atendimento diferenciado. Objetivou-se conhecer a percepção de puérperas acerca da vivência do trabalho de parto e parto. Estudo exploratório e descritivo, qualitativo, realizado em hospital público de nível secundário de Fortaleza — Ceará, com catorze puérperas que se encontravam em Alojamento Conjunto. Os dados foram coletados em agosto e setembro de 2009, por meio de entrevista semiestruturada. Os depoimentos foram organizados segundo a técnica de Análise de Conteúdo. As descrições do trabalho de parto e parto enfatizaram alívio pela superação da dor e felicidade em poder ter o filho nos braços, porém a sensação de dor foi apresentada como critério para classificar o momento como negativo, apesar de necessária ao nascimento. Conclui-se que a vivência do trabalho de parto deve ser levada em consideração, pois traz repercussões à participação da mulher na parturição. DOI:https://doi.org/10.15253/2175-6783.2010011esp00004
