Abstract
Le point de vue qu'ont sur leur expérience les femmes dites infertiles doit être pris en considération dans le débat sur les nouvelles technologies de la reproduction. Une recherche réalisée pour le Conseil du statut de la femme auprès de 32 Québécoises suivies en clinique de fertilité, aide à comprendre pourquoi elles adhèrent à la «solution» médicale malgré les difficultés et les risques sérieux qu'elle comporte souvent. Tant l'approche bio-médicale de l'infertilité que le contexte social et culturel dans lequel elles évoluent tendent à définir le recours aux techniques de procréation assistée comme la seule alternative d'action possible pour elles, et rendent extrêmement difficile toute remise en question du processus d'aide médicale une fois qu'il est amorcé.
