Maintaining a constant flow of innovation is a key issue for startups. One way of doing this is by activating networks, partnerships, alliances, collaborations or any other external relationship. These strategic contacts enable access to resources which are often insufficient during starting periods. The biotech sector is often chosen for the numerous amount of cooperation agreements which characterize it. Our aim is to describe these various organizational arrangements and the variables which temper the link between external relationships and constant innovative activities. Various proposals are made that could be applied to other sectors. Some of these ideas may give a direction to institutional programmes whose aim is to help business venturing.
