À partir d’une réflexion générale sur la résurgence du discours éthique en sociologie et en sciences sociales, l’article vise à circonscrire une problématique de l’éthique qui caractériserait le rapport de connaissance sociologique. Pour ce faire, il est envisagé dans un premier temps, les modalités d’une traduction du modèle philosophique de l’éthique de Paul Ricoeur en fonction de l’objet de la sociologie. Dans un deuxième temps, à partir de l’analyse méthodologique de la démarche exemplaire d’Oscar Lewis dans Les enfants de Sanchez, chercheur partagé entre une pluralité d’engagements éthiques, est mise en évidence cette nécessité de recentrer l’engagement éthique du chercheur sur une éthique de la connaissance.
