Este volumen, coordinado por José del Pozo Artigas, profesor de Historia de América Latina en la Université de Quebec, Montreal, Canadá, reúne una introducción y ocho artículos sobre diversos aspectos del exilio chileno, a partir del golpe militar que llevó a Pinochet al poder el 11 de septiembre de 1973. Está claro que no es posible abarcar en un corto volumen la magnitud de un fenómeno que involucró a centenares de miles de personas y su distribución a lo largo y ancho del mundo, y no sólo en América y Europa sino también en lugares tan lejanos de Chile como Israel y Australia.
