Abstract
Le propos de cet article est d'interroger les discours de sans-emploi pris dans deux systèmes sociaux fortement contrastés (le Québec et la France), à partir du concept de formes de résistance politique. Autant dans les récits de pratiques que dans les représentations sociales de la réalité, les relations entre les populations situées hors du marché du travail et les institutions chargées de les réinsérer s'expriment sous la forme d'une résistance qui va au-delà de la débrouillardise. Quatre formes distinctes de résistance sont répertoriées, qui expriment chacune un rapport spécifique au travail, à l'État et au marché. Si le niveau individuel d'analyse nous renseigne sur l'univers cognitif des sans-emploi, il nous permet également de dégager des tendances globales. Ainsi, certaines formes de résistance politique traduisent la volonté, individuelle ou collective, de participer au changement social.
