In corso d’opera ho preferito cambiare leggermente il titolo, che ora recita Franca e la paura del tragico. In un certo senso, vorrei dimostrare come per questa attricecoautrice l’esperienza personale della paura, provata sul palco e comunicata alla sala, rappresenti un valore negativo, o meglio qualcosa di tragico da rimuovere. Questo nelle intenzioni, perche nei fatti nondimeno quest’ombra rispunta ogni tanto nel suo bagaglio espressivo trascinando con se un’indubbia ambiguita di segni sulla scena. Qui, mi sembra opportuna una parentesi personale. Anni fa, a Pistoia, ho organizzato al Chiostro di San Francesco una serie di letture da miei monologhi sul mito, una riscrittura contemporanea dello stesso, nel solco, se mi e consentito, di Savinio, tra spiazzamenti anacronistici e cadute nel prosaico piccolo borghese. In quel laboratorio che coinvolgeva parecchie attrici di differente eta, dalle generazioni piu anziane come Marisa Fabbri e Franca Nuti a quelle relativamente piu recenti, come Elisabetta Pozzi e Anna Bonaiuto, ho provato a invitare anche Franca Rame. Ebbene, ricordo in quell’occasione la sua strana reazione. Per telefono era prontamente insorta: «Ma come, Puppa! Non sono mica un’attrice, io». Il fatto e che non gradiva essere messa a confronto con interpreti istituzionali, con performer che lavorano sul personaggio delegando a mansioni separate, come il regista e l’autore, la direzione, mentre lei era ed e abituata a considerarsi un’artista indipendente. Qualcosa d’altro. Allo stesso tempo, Franca credeva che i testi che desideravo affidarle appartenessero appunto ai moduli tragici, cui non si sentiva portata. La semplice presenza del mito antico nel titolo la spingeva verso un tale fraintendimento. Quest’immagine paradossale (ma non troppo) di se, ovvero la convinzione ideologica di non vedersi quale attrice, mi e stata da lei ribadita in seguito, e sempre tramite un contatto diretto. Eravamo assieme a un convegno promosso dall’University College di Toronto, dal titolo ambizioso, Why the theatre now? C’era lei, non Dario. Non parlava un parola di inglese durante i colloqui, ed era tuttavia meravigliosa nel trasformare questa carenza in una risorsa comunicativa. Mentre il traduttore si sforzava di virare in un’altra lingua, ma mano, quanto lei stava sostenendo nel suo intervento, Franca lo interrompeva con continue _____________
