Abstract
Le but de cet article est d’examiner de plus près cette période de transformation et d’identifier les manœuvres socio-politiques qui ont donné à la psychiatrie la direction qu’elle a prise depuis vingt ans. Il ne s’agit pas ici de raconter l’histoire récente de la psychiatrie québécoise mais bien de présenter une interprétation d’une série d’événements, d’enjeux politiques et de relations d’influence qui ont bouleversé, modelé et remodelé le système de distribution des soins. En d’autres mots, nous allons examiner, en détail, le scénario « psycho-politique », qui a amené le système « asilaire » qui était sous le contrôle du clergé jusqu’en 1961 (nommé ici période I), à se transformer en un système dit « psychiatrique » sous le contrôle des psychiatres au cours des années 1962-1970 (nommé ici période II), et enfin, en un système « intégré » au réseau global des services de santé et des services sociaux sous le contrôle des technocrates gouvernementaux depuis les débuts des années 70 (nommé ici période III).
