Abstract
Nous assistons aujourd’hui à une augmentation sans précédent du recours à la médicalisation de conditions principalement sociales. Au coeur de ces transformations sociales contemporaines, la médicalisation du corps objet soulève des questions importantes en ce qui concerne les modalités de contrôle social. Transformant ce corps « mou » et modifiable, la chirurgie esthétique s’inscrit dans cette modalité de contrôle et de gestion des corps, non seulement sur le plan physique, mais également sur le plan social. Physique, car elle permet effectivement de modifier les organes extérieurs visibles (visage, seins, jambes, nez, etc.), mais également le corps social, dans la mesure où elle propose un modèle social des corps dépassant ceux hérités des parents, voire l’ordre des choses.
