Abstract
Este artículo se centra en la obra teatral La pasión según Antígona Pérez: crónica americana en dos actos (1968) del escritor puertorriqueño Luis Rafael Sánchez. Sánchez reescribe el mito trágico de Antígona de Sófocles reformulando el núcleo de poderes antagónicos dentro de un contexto dictatorial hispanoamericano. El artículo investiga cómo la obra descarta la visión de mundo universal y determinante de los modelos estructurales de la tragedia griega y del cristianismo y explora, en su lugar, la cuestión del poder dentro de un espacio contemporáneo mediático y sensacionalista. El propósito es detallar la manera en que Antígona Pérez descubre al estado como una instancia productora de sentido y procede a exponer sus límites materiales y su aparato propagandístico mediante un acto transgresivo de interpretación y diferencia política. El artículo concluye reiterando el valor dramático y revolucionario de la protagonista en su habilidad de desarticular la coherencia ideológica de un sistema totalitario.
