Le Réseau latino-américain des femmes transformant l’économie (REMTE, acronyme espagnol) a contribué à rapprocher les questions d’économie et de genre, en incitant les organisations à regarder le libre-échange comme une problématique genrée et en apportant une perspective féministe aux mouvements critiques du libre-échange. Les critiques féministes des théories dominantes sur les mouvements sociaux transnationaux considèrent que : 1) les études transnationales sont biaisées par une vision masculine des mouvements et des stratégies ; 2) l’objet d’analyse porte principalement sur l’État et le court terme ; 3) il est nécessaire d’aborder les dynamiques de genre au sein des mouvements sociaux. Dans cet article, l’auteur montre que la prise en compte de ces critiques nous permet de mieux comprendre le cas du REMTE.
